2983 TopicsGetting "Installation failed. The Dropbox installer failed to start." error on my desktop app.
Hi everyone, I have this issue for almost two months now. After some major Dropbox update somewhere at the end of April, if I'm not mistaking, I got continuous sync showing for thousands of files in my desktop app & tried to reinstall it (Windows 11). I get this message each time ever since. I'm not technician at all, tried different methods that I was suggested to do, including, antivirus stop, deep cleanup etc. Tried a stable version, suggested in other thread here in community, but nothing helps - I still get this message each time. Please help me guys, it's very inconvenient, annoying and doesn't help my workflow at all. Ever since this update was forced upon us, my File Explorer no longer works properly. It takes forever to load with a green bar at the top and white icons. When it does finally load, if I click on a file to either open it or copy it or whatever, I get the blue donut and nothing happens for ages. I have to go away and do something else for 5 or 10 minutes before it will finally allow me to right-click or open it. I am beyond frustrated now. It took me over an hour to complete a simple copy and paste task this morning that would normally take less than 5 minutes. I simply cannot run my business this way. I've tried various things such as the obvious rebooting etc. I also tried to rename the Shell Icon Overlays as there is apparently a limit in Windows and Dropbox was apparently causing an overlay limit conflict. I also cleared my thumbnail/icon cache. Nothing I do is working. It's awful and I hate the change. I just want it to work. File Explorer isn't great at the best of times as it's so unreliable and I've always had to restart it 2 or 3 times a day. But now it's not working for me at all. Please can someone help? I am incredibly busy at work and have now wasted a good 4 hours on this. I really desperately need to get on with my work. I'm using Windows 10 Pro and it's up to date.69Views1like3CommentsDo I have to reinstall Dropbox every time I do a software update on my Linux Fedora 42?
I'm running Dropbox on Fedora 42 (Linux). Each time I do a software update for the computer, this warning shows when I log in: Do I really have to reinstall Dropbox each time? This is confusing.28Views0likes4CommentsThe Dropbox desktop app doesn't install correctly on Sequoia 15.5
I have just bought a new Mac Book Air and running Sequoia 15.5. I have used dropbox since it started, and never had an issue. However I simply cannot get Dropbox to install properly in Sequoia 15.5. The folder syncs after initial set up, but the app does not appear in the menu bar, and cannot be run from applications, as this is just a short cut to the folder. I have no way to access the app settings, or add the personal account I have. I have lost all morning to this, does anyone have a solution (please don't say delete and reinstall, as I have done that 5/6 times) or reboot. Is this a known bug ? If so, when does it get fixed as I now have not way to sync files...110Views0likes11CommentsThe Dropbox cache folder takes up 600GB of space and the app is stuck syncing 34 files.
My Dropbox is running out of space massively then I noticed there's a hidden .Dropbox.cache folder containing almost 600 gb. My Dropbox still continuously syncing 34 files (for a few hours now). What can I do?44Views0likes4CommentsNavigating within the Dropbox folder in File Explorer in Windows 11 is very slow
I'm having an issue when navigating through the folders in the Dropbox directory on Windows 11. It is taking approximately 30 seconds to open any folders within the Dropbox folder. I timed one just now with a stopwatch, it took 32 seconds to open a folder. Other drives on this PC load up quickly, but also other directories in the same SSD are working fine and open instantly, so it's not a faulty drive. I have restarted my PC several times, tried restarting Windows Explorer via task manager, doing any updates, and making sure there aren't any Sync Issues within Dropbox. I have also completely removed any files larger than 4GB from Dropbox via 'Manage Hard Drive space', in case it's a large file issue. It wasn't happening a couple of days ago, but I did notice this issue in the past, and it seemed to be fixed by a Dropbox update some years ago. I am seeing that this same bug was reported around 2021, 4 years ago. Apparently, the same issue is back now. For now, my workaround is Right Click > Open Folder in New Tab, or adding a folder to Quick Access. Either of these options nulls the bug, so I've narrowed it down to only happening when you open a folder by double clicking, right-clicking open, or hitting Enter to open. I like greatly both Dropbox and the Microsoft Surface Pro. The 2019/20 Pro X however, I discovered to my cost, used ARM microsoft architecture, and Dropbox could not be installed on it. The later run, esp. the most recent Pro 11, is said to use ARM elements but to cover this 'a new x86 emulator known as Prism, which promises better x86 emulation performance'. Does anybody know if it is (fully) compatible with Dropbox? Thanks11Views0likes1CommentI tried deleting the Dropbox app, but it also started deleting my Dropbox files.
Hello. I cannot seem to figure out what is happening. I was trying to upload/download/move files yesterday and it was going extremely slow. A pop-up informed me that "if things were uploading slowly, install the app on your computer to upload faster." So I did that and now it is EATING UP all my storage on my computer to the point where I cannot open or save anything. I tried deleting it, but then it appeared to be deleting everything in my account so I panicked and cancelled the deletion. Please help.11Views0likes1CommentI'm now getting rcraid.sys crashes as Dropbox re-syncs everything on my Windows 10 device.
As the title says, my computer was running perfectly and I was uploading a file. Next thing I know, dropbox started to resync a load of files and then my machine started crashing. Is anyone else having this issue? I am on a pc laptop, AMD 3080 card with 64 gb ram. If i disable sync and or kill dropbox app i have no issues. Update: after installing the app and after an hour the crashes have returned. Attempting to navigate the issue so cause is uncertain, thanks!26Views0likes2Comments
