The Dropbox desktop app doesn't install correctly on Sequoia 15.5
I have just bought a new Mac Book Air and running Sequoia 15.5. I have used dropbox since it started, and never had an issue. However I simply cannot get Dropbox to install properly in Sequoia 15.5.
The folder syncs after initial set up, but the app does not appear in the menu bar, and cannot be run from applications, as this is just a short cut to the folder. I have no way to access the app settings, or add the personal account I have.
I have lost all morning to this, does anyone have a solution (please don't say delete and reinstall, as I have done that 5/6 times) or reboot. Is this a known bug ? If so, when does it get fixed as I now have not way to sync files...

Hey 9elfer - I just responded to the other post you had commented on.
As suggested there, could you try an advanced reinstall using the offline installer from this page directly and let me know how it goes?
Thank you!

There is something very strange happening with Dropbox and Sequoia 15.5, the install just will not work correctly. I removed Dropbox and rebooted, then installed the offline 228.4.5567.arm64, but got the above error message, and then basically the same issue ; File folders are all OK, but there is no app and I can't sync or add an extra dropbox account.

Hey 9elfer, thanks for the update and sorry to see that you're having issues with the Dropbox desktop app.
Did you try the advanced reinstall steps Walter suggested in his reply above?

Yes I tried that, it didn't work and I shared the error message above.

I have tried to get the error message repeated, but no luck. Trying to reinstall using the offline dmg file makes no difference. I am hearing from other 15.5 users the same issue, the app simply doesn't run after the initial install and file download. I have the dropbox folders installed and sync'ed, but the app isn't running, there is no sync running, and I can't access dropbox setting. This a real bug, and seemingly not a clash with another app. If I can't rectify this, I am forced to move to another storage app, I simply cannot afford to be offline like this for days with no way to rectifying. I just don't understand how a serious bug like this doesnt get picked up in UAT ?

I deleted dropbox (again....) removed all the folders, and rebooted. The installed the standard application (not the offline arm64 version) and this time opted out of FileProvider api. That installed OK, but I had to strip the menu bar of all native widgets like sound / wifi etc and when the menu bar was half empty the dropbox app appeared, and it is running OK.
I can access settings, add my personal account back, and then once everything is sync'd, I will add back menu bar items and see if the drop box widgets stays visible, then I will try and opt back into FileProvider and see what happens...
