The indicator tray Dropbox icon/menu has gone AWOL on my Linux Mint.
Dropbox on Linuxmint MATE Desktop Environment.
In a previous post (https://www.dropboxforum.com/discussions/101001016/upgrade-to-dropbox-on-linuxmint-mate-desktop-killed-bluetooth/833753) I followed the instructions re ' To install Ayatana Indicators for Linux Mint (MATE)' and also 'To install LibAppIndicator on Linux'. The result was an incompatibility with Bluetooth (blueman).
Dropbox is functioning properly in that it stores what I want BUT in recent weeks the icon/menu has disappeared from the Indicator tray has gone AWOL from my Indicator tray. Why would it go missing when I've done what was needed to cope with Dropbox's new way of doing things (at the expense of Bluetooth)? This is a bit of a pain. How do I get Dropbox back on my indicator tray?
Lo and behold - I finally have a Dropbox icon/menu on my System tray - but only after I removed-rebooted-reinstalled-rebooted for every element in the process. Finally.... but for how long? (Fingers crossed)

Hey jeff_15, welcome back to our forum and thanks for reporting this.
I’m guessing that you’ve already restarted your computer and it didn't make a difference. Correct?
Also, if you’re not using a free Basic account with more than 3 devices currently connected, can you reinstall the Dropbox app and let me know if that helps?
Keep me posted for any updates.

Yes, the computer is booted up every day.
I just now installed ver. 2025.05.20 from Dropbox (previous install was 2024.04.17). File-sharing function works but still no icon/menu in the system/Indicator tray.
Incidentally, my ASUS laptop has the same version of LinuxMint (22 Wilma) with Dropbox ver. 2024.04.17 (which I uninstalled from the Desktop computer before installing 2025.05.20) and has the icon/menu working in the System /Indicator tray.

I see, thanks jeff_15! What I can suggest next is to perform an advanced reinstall instead with these steps.
If the issue persists after that, don’t hesitate to ping me.

Well, I tried that. Plus I went through the routine ' To install Ayatana Indicators for Linux Mint (MATE)'.
I am no further advanced.
At login I get the pop-up message: Dropbox requires App Indicator support to display the Dropbox tray icon. Dropbox will continue to run in the background. For Full access to the tray icon, you will need to update your environment.
Not at all encouraging :-(

Meant to say the above routine had several iterations!
