We’re experiencing an issue with Dropbox on two company laptops where certain folders specifically SCAI Team Dropbox and a subfolder labeled Paul are showing a red 'X' icon in File Explorer. Here are the key details: 1. The red X icon appears on both folders, indicating a sync or access error. 2. These folders are part of a shared Dropbox Team environment. 3. The issue persists on two separate Windows laptops. 4. The users have confirmed they are signed into Dropbox with their respective accounts and that Dropbox is running. 5. We've reviewed local sync settings and permissions, and everything appears to be correctly configured. We’ve attempted basic troubleshooting such as: 1. Checking internet connectivity 2. Verifying Dropbox sync status from the desktop client 3. Reviewing selective sync settings 4. Confirming folder visibility within the Dropbox web interface However, the red X icons remain, and the folders do not appear to be syncing properly. Could you please help us identify the root cause of the issue or suggest any advanced troubleshooting steps? -Ray40Views0likes4CommentsHow can I disable the feature to automatically open a Dropbox link in Explorer in Windows?
Dropbox recently implemented a feature that allows you to open Windows Explorer in the folder where the file is located when you click on a link to a file in your Dropbox. I have enabled this behavior as automatic, but I want to return to the default behavior and I can't find a way to disable this feature.Solved143Views0likes14CommentsHow can I stop the desktop notification pop-up from showing up every time I click on a shared link?
Hello! I use Dropbox daily for work. I use both the online version for reference and the desktop version for everything else. Recently, this pop-up has appeared on my machine, and it's driving me insane! I see the option for one preference, but it's missing the "don't ask again" option. How can I prevent this pop-up from opening every time I click a link? Thank you in advance!51Views0likes3CommentsHow to stop "This shared file already synced" pop-up when opening synced files from a shared link
Hey! This is a very recent issue for me, it was fine before Every time I open a Dropbox link to a file that's already synced on my computer, I get this annoying popup saying the file is already synced (screenshot below). Can we please get a "don't show this again" option? It's super annoying when you're opening links all day and I want to view them in the web version instead of the app. Also please let me know if there is already a way to disable this that I was blind to. Thanks! : D120Views0likes9CommentsI received a Dropbox survey invitation on the desktop app, that looks suspicious. Is this real?
"Got a few minutes? Get $5. Help us make Dropbox better". The window name is "Sprig electron view" (so it's not even using the standard Windows notification service). Anyway, the only notifications I have enabled are: "files and folders shared with me" new files synced edits to files , so I don't think disabling any of them would help. What is going on? This is on a Family plan.92Views0likes3CommentsMy desktop app is linked to a different account - How can I link it to my own account?
on my windows computer, I have a dropbox folder which was set up with my accountant to share files into. This was set up before I started my own paid dropbox account. Since that was set up, I am now working with a designer and we have shared folders which I can see in the online version but I can't see them in my desktop dropbox folder. I have tried dragging them from the online into the desktop folder but it won't let me. I have also tried from my paid dropbox account, downloading the dropbox desktop app again, it does the install but then nothing happens and when I check the desktop folder it is still only showing my accountants folders?69Views0likes4CommentsI keep receiving annoying sound notifications from my Win11 Dropbox app.
A few days ago, on my Win 11 PC, I started getting Dropbox notifications multiple times a minute. There were small information boxes that appeared for a while. I think that I changed a setting to stop the boxes, but still the annoying tone keeps sounding! I clicked on the icon in the system tray and clicked "pause syncing", but that did not stop the sound. I then clicked on my initials, then Preferences, then Notifications, and then turned off all notifications. The notification sounds (I assume they are notifications of some kind) persisted. The notifications on my Dropbox account (via Chrome) all seem to be email notifications, and probably not relevant. The only way that I can stop the notifications is if I choose the "Quit" option from the app (in the system tray). The syncing seems to be continuous. Mostly just 2 or 3 files, but then all of a sudden it shows over 500 files syncing, then it quickly drops to 2 or 3. I don't know if this is related, but for better security, I recently created an Admin account and downgraded my everyday account to a non-admin account. I think that the Dropbox issues happened before that change, but I am not 100% certain. Any help or ideas would be appreciated!Solved95Views0likes9CommentsHow can I link two Dropbox accounts to my desktop app and use selective sync for both?
I have 2 Dropbox accounts I use regularly. The Desktop icon only shows one of them, so I can only use selective sync for it. How can I change the Desktop icon to point to the whichever account I want to set selective sync for?63Views0likes4Comments
