Scenario, I put a file on my DropBox in a public shared folder. I click on 3 dots and select share, options show it’s set to - anyone with link can view I then share this link ..... example: [Removed as per Community Guidelines] However users don’t get the file or access to it, what they get is an 'window' to create a DropBox Account. It ought to be simpler for users to get to view access, or download … people are reporting they can’t access files due to Dropbox wanting accounts created … which they don’t want to do, too many bogus sites around, and people are reluctant to use their data to open accounts. Can you share without forcing creating a Dropbox account.37Views0likes1CommentI can't save shared content to my Dropbox account, or download/print it. What can I do?
Hi, the first time someone shared files with me I was able to download them into my own Dropbox storage to view at my leisure. Now, they have shared more files but I can't download them. It says the function is disabled for all these files. Is that because they have not enabled it at their end? I just need to know if it's something they need to change please. I also cannot print the documents. Is that something they can enable at their end too? Or do I just download and then print once the documents are in my Dropbox storage?100Views0likes6CommentsI organized a massive amount of files on the desktop app, but sync seems to have stopped.
Yikes! Everything had been going well. Uploads to Dropbox from my main external HDs seemed fine. The DropBox online and my iMac were synced. THEN, I continued sorting, reorganizing, renaming the folder structure, moving around some files, deleting others. Not sure how many hours, but a lot. NOTICED that the online thru browser no longer reflected my files on Desktop. In troubleshooting it seemed okay to quit and restart the desktop app. I also restarted my computer. This has not solved anything. For hours now, the pull down report from menu bar says it's syncing "16.214 files 9MB" but, I do not see any progress. The browser doesn't reflect the changes. WHAT IS MY NEXT STEP? I want to retain all the organization work. I am worried if I redownload and install the app, I may end up with an earlier state of the files. Please advise.Solved116Views0likes6CommentsExtremely slow uploads using browser
Hey there. I currently use Dropbox for sharing files and upload my files mostly using the desktop app, which uses my full internet connection of 1Gbps, usually easy and no errors. My main issue: Some of my peers also use dropbox and will send me upload requests and vice/versa. These apparently can only be done through a browser, at least I haven't found a way to use the app yet, which takes absolutely ages. I've tried using different browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Edge and Opera) or different machines (Win11, Mac and a linux distro) and it will not change how fast it goes. Also this connection is frequently dropped and the uploader shows as if all the files are uploaded, but when checking we see that some files are missing, sometimes a lot, sometimes a few. Is there a way to use the desktop app to share files with someone else's dropbox link? If not, is there are way to make the browser upload faster? I use a few other services that require browser uploading (WeTransfer, Vimeo, Youtube, Pixieset, GoogleDrive) and Dropbox is the only one that is slow. I just did a test of uploading 700 raw photos and it took the desktop app a little over 3 minutes while the browser still has over 45 minutes to go. Thanks anyone for the help, I couldn't find anything anywhere about this, hopefully is fixable!3.5KViews0likes28CommentsI cannot locate the "share" button on the website when hovering over a folder
I have been away from Dropbox for a while, but need to start using again to share photo folders. I have uploaded photos in folders to Dropbox, and when I want to share them, there is no "box" that appears to click on (used to be located next to the file when the file is clicked or hoovered over) that would say "share". I'm not finding this problem in researching proplem issues. Help!!35Views0likes1CommentDropbox not syncing to server using a shared link
Hi, I'm new here and I'm trying to figure out a problem. So our website has embedded a shared Dropbox link to host the files so I can upload them to a server but it is a common issue that it is not syncing with the website. I have already tried to clear caches, checking fire wall, anti virus, network connections but nothing seems to help resolve it. Do you guys have any suggestions? Thank you in advance!94Views0likes9CommentsWhy is there a charge for someone to access a shared folder in Plus?
I have a Plus account which I upgraded to be able to share my wedding photos with family and friends. When I sent the link to the folder to my father, he was immediately asked to pay £8 and set-up his own account. Plus he's now been bombarded with emails from Dropbox. Have I misunderstood what Dropbox can do? I don't want my family and friends to have to pay to access my wedding photos! Does this mean I now have to upgrade even more to be able to do this? Any help much appreciated. Thanks Jo28Views0likes1Comment
